Meet the newest Delcat: Sam Lewis's orange number 95 racer. It is bright, it is fast, and it matches his dad's car, stripes and all.

What is a Delcat?

Delcats are the comp safari racers Del builds. Other builders have their own well-known names, like the Tomcat, and people started calling Del's cars Delcats. A Delcat runs a TD5 engine, which is reliable and fast, and is similar in spirit to the Tomcat but built for the 21st century. They are normally built off a 3m frame, but not always.

Sam is a local Jaguar specialist and one of our weekend guides at 4x4 Driving School. He races off road too, and he has recently bought a Delcat of his own.

Like father, like son

Why orange? Sam's dad, Terence Lewis, has an orange McLaren with black stripes, and Sam's racer matches it, even down to the stripes. Terence and Sam are two peas in a pod, with the same love of fast cars and the same love of orange. This year Terence even raced at Ebbw Vale as co-driver for Sam, and they finished the event and had a great time. The family team is the real deal.
